In 1997, Stephen King published this novel through Signet Books under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, and I must say that it remains one of my favorite novels of all time. The main character, Charlie Decker, is one haunted and twisted individual that I connected with on the first page and still do to this day. I've reread it 11 times and am going in for a 12th read next month, so judging by that alone you can deduce for yourself that it surely is a masterpiece. Interspersed throughout the main narrative are flashbacks to Charlie's past and the haunting events that led him to where he is during the course of the novel, further deepening the reader's empathy with him. The pacing, although slowed at some points, remains at a break-neck speed throughout and is guaranteed to hook you from the first word until the last.

Definitely recommended to everybody who loves psychological thrillers and all types of horror!
