it was amazing
Recommended for: Nerds and gluttons for intellectual punishment..

** spoiler alert ** I stuck with the Baroque Cycle mostly for bragging rights, not because it was fun reading. It was educational, and like an education, when it was over, I was left with a void to fill by some other means. The ending was well resolved in a feel good way but I could not believe that the King of the Vagabonds would end up living out his declining years with the Sun King, that seemed over the top to me. Better resolved was the conflict between Jack Shaftoe and Isaac Newton, which was central to this volume, though I do confess not to have completely understood it, especially the British politics. This was a trilogy to read once but never again. If you're going to read this, you will have to make it central to your life for the duration, again like an education, which it is...
