Interesting story about the early days of abstract money and financing, and the common theme across the ages that knowledge is power, as is the ability to manipulate information. the first third was really good, establishing some interesting characters. The middle dragged, and would have benefited from a more consequent editor. The ending was clearer to the reader than the character, which made it felt somewhat anticlimactic. The romance may have been required, but ended up being superfluous.
