I really should have read this book in my teenage years, but I don't feel like I read it "too late". In the form of anonymous letters to a sympathetic stranger, "Charlie" details his life in high school as a kid on the outside. I saw a lot of my teenage self in Charlie, and saw a kid I'd want to reach out to as a teacher, too.

The narrator for this audiobook, Johnny Heller, captured the character excellently despite being nowhere near sixteen years old.
