really liked it
bookshelves: biography

This Grant biography almost ventures into the historical fiction category at times with its enthusiastic telling of the president's life. It is lively, full of interesting anecdotes, and a good read for anyone interested in Grant or the Civil War.

It takes a positive view of the general and attempts to dispel many of the more pugnacious rumors and stories about him. I enjoyed it thoroughly although its flowery prose seemed overdone at times.
