I feel like I should just say "See my review of the previous book in this series." Ditto to all the good comments.

In various books in the series, Banks makes mention and/or thinks about his friend, Graham, who disappeared when they were 14 years old. It was presumed that he was dead, likely the victim of a sexual predator. In this book, the action opens with the bones of a long-buried body being unearthed by construction equipment. The long-ago disappearance of Graham & the investigation into his death provide a counterpoint to the investigation of a current disappearance of a 15-year-old boy near Eastvale.

Robinson introduces a new character, DI Michelle Hart of the Cambridgeshire police.
