This book was incredibly powerful. I had picked it up several time prior to actually making the commitment to actually read it, and I really think the timing was right for me. He draws heavily on personal experience, I would argue appropriately so, but balances with a sense of journalistic integrity and sound scholarship. I like the set up of the book -- separate and distinct chapters looking at depression through various lenses, not all of which I would have really thought about (for instance, politics and evolution). I really surprised myself in that the section on evolution was one of my favorites -- who knew? Bottom line -- Solomon is a good writer. Added on to my neverending "to read" list...
