For anyone who has ever lost someone very close to them, this book will make you cry and smile and cry again.

Goodbye for Now is a very sweet book that follows the life of Sam, a too-successful computer programer who created a matchmaking software so accurate that he was laid off from his job because he was losing the company money. Through this program he meets his girlfriend Meredith, who is suddenly facing tremendous grief when her grandmother dies. Sam, seeing the woman he loves in so much pain, uses his computer skills to fabricate software that collects every piece of digital data that Meredith and her grandmother shared to re-create her virtually. As the software reaches perfection and enables her grandmother to basically communicate to Meredith from beyond the grave, and vice versa, they decide to share this program with others facing the same grief. As their new company takes off, everyone, including Meredith and Sam, are left wondering if this amazing new program is truly helping people with their grief, or stopping the natural process altogether.

If you had the chance to speak to someone you lost, would you take it?
