I really enjoy Philippa Gregory's novels. I have never been disappointed. This time however, even though I can imagine what it must have been like to be there and know Anne Neville (Gregory is very vivid in her descriptions), I feel that something was missing. I understand Anne was but her father's pawn but she had such a sad life. One tragedy after another. I would like to learn what contributions she made, if any, while being Queen. The reason I feel that something was missing in the novel may very well be due to the fact that I picked this book up prior to reading books 1-3; The White Queen, The Red Queen, and The Lady of the Rivers. That was my mistake. I will go back and pick up those book and I am sure that will make a difference. As I mentioned, Gregory has never disappointed me. There are a total of 6 novels in The Cousins' War series.
