I really enjoyed this book - it was the kind that I picked up and couldn't put down due to the continuous action. I read it in basically two sittings.

The world that Drake has created is really cool. She draws on known mythologies/creatures, but dumps them all into the same world where they need to co-exist. It is rather fascinating concept, that I really want/ed to see fleshed out. I could see future books from the Gage's viewpoint, but also from other from other creatures revealing the thoughts/secrets/politics of their factions, all of which were hinted at but not really explored in this novel.

The sex scene made me chuckle, which I'm pretty sure wasn't the emotion that the author was going for. And seriously, I counted 27 uses of the word "body" in that scene. Someone find a thesaurus! (The whole book wasn't written like this - that one scene was really the low point of the writing.)

And I did eventually tire of the endless scrapes that Gage got into.

But still a 3 star book for me for the world and for how much I want to read sequels!
