3.5 stars Were you expecting something else for this series? If I themed books 1 & 2 like this, I might as well continue the trend. I'll start off in the right order this time with Good Cop.

Good Cop!

1. Daemon. Enough said.

2. Action Sequences. Some of what I'd asked for in the first couple of books was brought to the table with Opal. We're dealing with aliens and the baddies out to get them. As much as I love the sexual tension in these books, if that's all there is, then the entire point of aliens and powers and all of that fun stuff is wasted. I might as well go read another generic-plot contemporary romance instead. Thankfully, the balance was working in this book!

3. There were many great quote-worthy passages. I marked several funny quotes, a few sweet lines, and a couple of downright sexy moments. Unfortunately, this review will be long enough without me adding in my highlights, so I'll be leaving them out this time.

Mini Spoiler - I'd advise clicking on it anyway, otherwise this picture will make no sense.

Note : This is not actually a picture of me.

Bad Cop!

1. I had the same issue with this book that I had with book 2. I'm not sure what's slipped off with the last couple of books, but both of them started out sort of blah. The first several chapters had me thinking that not even Daemon was capable of fixing my ongoing reading slump because the plot needed a serious boost. Even so, everything worked out fine when the story hit a good stride, and all's well that ends well.

2. Katy's still needing hair ties. Hell, I think Daemon and Dawson might need some too. They all seem to have issues with hair falling in the face. It just only appears that Katy's the only one who gets hers tucked back by not only herself, but also by the males in her general vicinity.

3. The YA book reference train continues. This doesn't personalize a book for me; it only dates it.

4. Preach much? The comment on how book piraters suck made me want to look for a soapbox.

But hey, my complaints are becoming smaller and smaller! Other than having a serious reading slump when I picked up Opal which didn't help with my thoughts about the slow start, I had a blast while reading from about 30% on. Overall, the series is coming along quite nicely. It's not my favorite YAPNR (not even going to pretend this is sci-fi, even if we do have aliens running around) series, but it's still one of the few series in the genre that I really do enjoy for the most part. I'll be looking forward to the next in the series because who knows...maybe the bad cop section will end up almost nonexistent with the positive direction we're headed in.

Stacia (the 2010 club) I'm about 25% in. So far, so good!

Yodamom Oh I can't wait.

Stacia (the 2010 club) Are you going to read it soon?

Amanda (.---.--.-...-) What do you think so far? Does Katy need any ponytail holders?

Stacia (the 2010 club) She does! There's already been a few hair tucks from Daemon.

Beks {Somewhere Between The Pages} I'm so jealous right now. Amazon UK doesn't get the early release. December 11th has never seemed so far away!

Joan (official heroine hater) Oh no! If Daemon can't get you out of your slump, then I don't know who can :(
I'm enjoying it so far-better than the last one.

Joan (official heroine hater) BTW-end of chapter 16-spoiler in case your not there yet (view spoiler)

Stacia (the 2010 club) I will come back and click on that because I think I might be right before that part.

Becky, you might beat me at this rate. For some reason, I'm having trouble keeping on track with this book and I'm going to go finish up another in-progress book first then come back to this book.

Beks {Somewhere Between The Pages} Ohh that doesn't bode well! Any idea why you're struggling? I need to mentally prepare myself :P

message 12: by Kala (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kala Yes Joan, he did :P

Joan (official heroine hater) I thought so..... ;)

Beks {Somewhere Between The Pages} Okay, I had to go and view that spoiler. Wish I hadn't because now I just want this book so much more. Why must you torture me, universe?!

Stacia (the 2010 club) I feel like I should get a medal for finally buckling down and reading this. It turned out good after all. :)

Dd **laughing**Are you trying to kill me??:D

Aria (The Whimsical Reader) Oh geez! :) I haven't read your review of Onyx but I think I have a clue on what your spoiler meant! Hahaha.

Blacky *Romance Addict* Great review Stacia!

Richa Great review, Stacia!! :)

Angie's Dreamy Reads Great review Stacia! I haven't read this series yet.

Stacia (the 2010 club) Dooo eeet. :p

(thanks peeps)

Jenn ~ Nemirdis I'm ready to finish this serious! I love Deamon.

Yodamom I love your review. Thanks

message 25: by Mara (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mara I feel like the plot was too predictable, but I love Daemon and Katy, it's one of the only pairings in YA that I actually like 100%. I wish the plot would become more complex though, it was boring knowing what would happen by the end of it. Sigh. I love Daemon.

Stacia (the 2010 club) I honestly don't know how the series itself can go on much more than a book or two. Once (view spoiler) it's going to sort of make me want to see things wrap up.

Thanks Yodamom. :)

Greta I had to go back and read your Onyx review to get it but LOL! Yes, I'm glad Katy finally realized how good she's got it. I almost gave up in her in the second book.

Stacia (the 2010 club) Me too. At least she turned it around.

message 29: by Karla (new)

Karla Nicely done Stacia!

Jen (waiting for the light to change) McNugget rage...roflol. I was the same way! I kept saying to myself (view spoiler)

♥Rachel♥ I thought the balance between romance and plot worked well in this one, too, Stacia. Thought the fact that Katy commented on book cliffhangers and how badly they sucked was very ironic! Lol.

Stacia (the 2010 club) Very ironic, haha.

message 35: by Slkorn321 (new)

Slkorn321 I'm a lurker, just wanted to tell you how much I love your reviews! You've introduced me to some great reads. I may be in the minority but I'm not a huge fan of the cover models or trailers/videos for the books. They almost seem...cheesy? But after reading your reviews I gave it a whirl and I have really enjoyed the 3 books so far. Thanks!

Stacia (the 2010 club) Aw, that's great. I'm glad they worked out for you. :)

I understand finding something cheesy. A lot of the popular romance covers make me cringe.

Kristen (Peddler of Smut) Great review, Stacia. Is this series clean like Twilight (Just lots of UST) or is there a little steam to them? I'm starting them soon because I just finished Obsession (these books better not be that steamy!! Lol) and really want to read this series now. I have to say, I HATE the Luxen. Lol. Basically, I'm curious if these book are more like a NA or a true YA.

Stacia (the 2010 club) There is some innuendo but nothing steamy happens for a few books in. When there is sex, there is some detail but it's not full-blown. I'd say they read like an older YA but not quite NA.

Kristen (Peddler of Smut) Perfect. That make me happy to know. I think I'd have problems if there was a lot of steam. My daughter is 19 now but when she was in High School, I wouldn't have let her reading the popular steamy NA. Too adult for a teen. I think anyway.

Stacia (the 2010 club) I was sexually active at 15, so I have no filter on what is or isn't too old, haha.

Some YA is just as steamy as adult. It really depends on how the author and publisher wants to deal with it. Some publishers allow it, while some won't.

I hadn't read Obsession yet. Is there detailed sex?

Kristen (Peddler of Smut) I was sexually active at 16 but I'm so hypocritical when it come to my daughter. Haha. I know she was sexually active in HS but I didn't want to encourage her. In all reality. I wasn't ready at such a young age.

Yes, Obsession is very descriptive. Very adult.
