** spoiler alert ** ***SPOILER ALERT***

I read the other three books in the series, and while this was a good book, I didn't feel like it was quite connected enough to the other books. From the prologue, I thought it would be...but it didn't quite make the jump between the end of the story and the kids in the maze. In fact, it seems far enough removed that there could easily be a 5th book - the what happens between the delivery of Deedee and the start of the maze. How did they come up with the maze? What were the testing protocols? Why kids and not adults? What's the rest of the story? Plus, in the context of this story, you don't find out the background between Alec and Lana, which I thought was sort of essential - really, neither of the main female characters was developed well...they were a little too idealized and not quite real.
