An interesting take on Holocaust fiction for teens. Franziska Margold is sent out of Germany on a Kindertransport, and starts a new life in England with a new family, no English, and the intention of getting the Mangold family out. She's got Jewish heritage, but her family is not practicing. She ends up with an Orthodox family and has to overcome her resistance to the cultural and religious aspects of Orthodox Judaism. There's a smattering of romance, lots of growing up quickly, and of course the grief one might expect. The author tells instead of showing many parts, but the story is interesting.
