It's summertime and the livin' ain't easy for Heather Wells, the assistant residence hall (not dorm!) director. She's a former teen/tween singing sensation who has left that life after catching her boy group boyfriend with another and her mother leaves the country with all her earnings. Life is good on the personal front, since she's secretly engaged to Cooper who is the older brother of her former boyfriend.

If only the college President's penthouse apartment wasn't in her hall. Instead of the quiet life of a deserted residence hall staffed by her students, dubbed "Island of Misfit Toys," she discovers the the son of the President up to no good, filming a reality television story with her former boyfriend and his present wife. It just comes more and more crazy, with poisonings, stalkers, and odd relationships.

Heather's wry sense of humor, observant nature, and happy relationship, she provides a strong, caring, curious narrative voice.

I love these books. Heather and Cooper are real people in a world of crazies.
