Falling into that realm of side stories that often proved extremely entertaining within the larger arc of the show...or drastically dismal, this foray into the Buffyverse fell somewhere in between. Characterized by moments of hilarity - Willow's flying transportation service being one - and moments of horror (the death of a Slayer still freaks me out, even though there are now thousands of them), the overall tone of the story felt off to my Innate Buffy Sense (IBS). No, it wasn't my grumbling bowel causing the sense of not-rightness, I think it had more to do with the whole concept of what the baddies were trying to do. That said, it does revisit a foe of the past, and being the Buffyverse, the foe cannot function the same as before, to chortle-worthy effect. Plus Xander does cute stupid things, then does dramatic things; Buffy acts as truly blonde as she is, then proves to be insightful, so maybe it really is my bowel causing my rumblings...
