Slow, slow start, with strange dialects in the narrative (no accents, just a goofy syntax). I think a book that deals with women's suffrage, union riots, and WWI could have been more exciting. And, unfortunately, there is more interior monologue and telling rather than showing. I pretty much skimmed the last half of the book, but don't feel cheated.
