This Australian import was a Printz Honor book a couple years back, and I'm always curious about the Printz choices. A young boy is recruited by the town "bad boy," Jasper Jones, to help him figure out who killed Jasper's girlfriend. Since everyone will assume Jasper's killed her, they have to dump her body and keep her death a secret. This novel starts as a murder mystery in a small town in Australia, but quickly morphs into a novel about racism and the loss of innocence and shining a light on the seedy underbelly of what humans are capable of doing to one another.
