With a very cool premise, a well-rendered world that seemed to exist beyond the edges of the page, a great heroine, and a complex-but-not-complicated plot, this book was both entertaining and impressive. Also, excellent, subtle prose. I enjoyed it a great deal and would certainly recommend it. There was also a particular pleasure in reading a female main character who is concerned with her career, her friendships, and her mentor, and who doesn't need a romance to make her a whole person or prove her femininity. Her happy ending is a job offer. It's awesome.

Heather YES, YES, YES to all of this! Also: courtroom fantasy drama, what? Thanks for the reminder that I should get on Two Serpents Rise ASAP.

Breda Such a weird combination of elements, but so cool!
