Jonathan Safran Foer
“We can't plead ignorance, only indifference. Those alive today are the generations that came to know better. We have the burden and the opportunity of living in the moment when the critique of factory farming broke into the popular consciousness. We are the ones of whom it will be fairly asked, What did you do when you learned the truth about eating animals?”
Jonathan Safran Foer, Eating Animals

Amrita Hey, what do you think of it so far?

It's... interesting. I haven't gotten to the bulk of the information yet (I'm in the rather cleverly arranged A-Z list of terms relating to eating animals), so I can't say whether or not I think he's covered both ends of the spectrum, whether he was unbiased, whether he provided solid, easy-to-understand information ... but overall, I'm such a huge fan of his work, I think I'll enjoy the read regardless. I understand it's a work of nonfiction and that it's mostly informational regarding the animal agriculture industry, but my ONE critique thus far is that I think he could've afforded to throw some more personal tidbits in there. I love reading about his family.
