"It was an act of courage to take the scraps life provided and stitch them together, wrestling the chaos into order, taking what had been cast off and creating something from it, something useful, beautiful, and strong, something whose true value was known only to the heart of the woman who made it".

I like the strong female characters in these books. They are real, have real problems, and solve them by being friends and sticking together. The quilting is fun, too. This book involved a round robin quilt where each character adds a border to a central section. As the quilt was passed around, each character had a problem that influenced how her border turned out.
