Read from July 11 to 16, 2013

"The war tried to kill us in the Spring," has to be one of the best opening lines ever. The following lines are just as good. Powers takes you into the mind of a young American serving in the Iraq war. The structure of the book, the language, and the story help to depict the craziness of war and the mental breakdown of the characters. This book should not be read quickly. I am afraid I will be pondering it for sometime.
