What a turkey! I think this author is aiming for Tom Clancy's audience, but he is completely lacking in the sort of research Clancy puts in. It's a fair shoot-'em-up, if you have no knowledge of chemistry, physics, diving, or aviation. He makes much of the incredible flammability of refrigerants (chlorofluorocarbons). Early refrigerators did use flammable or toxic refrigerants, the switch to chlorofluorocarbons was precisely because they are not flammable and are relatively non-toxic. SPOILER AHEAD!

He also has batteries that hold a charge for 40 years, no knowledge of radiation, and can operated a turbojet engine in a sealed cave without consuming all the oxygen in the cave.
