really liked it
bookshelves: romance
Read in August, 2012

I had fun with it, but it was very much a woman's gay romance.

I thought the book was very well-written and I do not have any significant criticisms of any of the characters - the men were men and the plot at least somewhat believable, for the most part.

The book, however, reminded me of a chick-flick. It was so sweet in the ending, possibly even mawkish, and in how it manipulated emotions in the mid-part. To be directed at a male audience, it would need less emotion and more sex.

What sex there was actually was well written with minimal fade-to-black effects. And I know that most gay male romance is written by women for women. I did enjoy this for what it was and will probably read more by the author.

But the plot was a bit overwhelming in its emotions. The twists were sorta clearly forecast, but cute nonetheless.
