Read in March, 2009

Reads more like an essay than a biography, and that is probably the author's intention. He infuses a bunch of modern day examples, which sometimes work and sometimes are distracting. He does a great job describing the years after his Presidency. But the author says next to nothing about his campaign for Presidency, which I found very odd. In the end, I walked away with a fairly unclear picture of who Van Buren really was.
