Recommended for: people who are not annoyed with lots of questions asked by the main character..
Read in December, 2008, read count: once

I've read about Coetzee before and got curious about his work. This is the first book I've read written by him. I read it on the train and at times got annoyed by the main character constantly asking questions on life and his psychological problems.

All in all it was a good book, but I wasn't too impressed. Maybe Coetzee has better novels than this one. It was a nice one, nonetheless.

J.M. Coetzee
“But he cannot see a connection between the end of yearning and the end of poetry. Is that what growing up amounts to: growing out of yearning, of passion, of all intensities of the soul?”
