Good grief, the prolixity!!

This story started out holding my interest for the first 25 chapters or so. Then my interest waned until about chapter 80. After that, my interested peaked and fell through the remainder of the story. However, this story is well written & complex. It by no means was boring, just verbose.

Dumas has interweaved a cast of characters, that although on the surface do not seem that they will have a connection, find themselves crossing paths more than once and in the most unforeseen circumstances.

I’ve never seen this movie, and no doubt, it will be abridged and lose much of its magic. I am glad I have read this unabridged version.
