I bought this last year when it came out, and then it sat on my ereader until this week, when something finally struck me to read it. Boy am I glad I waited because now I don't have to wait for The Bandit King, although I worry there might be a book 3 that I don't know about. Back to the book, I really enjoyed it, and it was a quick read. What stopped me from giving it 5 stars was the perspective. Because it was told from Vianne's perspective, there wasn't always a lot of character development for the secondary characters. I feel like a better relationship could have been developed with the other Guard members, so that I didn't just think of them as "the young one", "the one who didn't want her" and "the one with a mustache". But the jam-packed plot kept me from worrying about that too much and I can't wait to read The Bandit King.
