** spoiler alert ** Boring. Oh, so boring...

Admittedly, I was probably too young when I read this book, but still...

So, Veronika decides to kill herself because she's bound to get old. No kidding, you daft bimbo! Obviously, she's shipped off to the nearest loony bin, where she makes at least one new friend whose name I no longer remember and where she meets Eduard. Now, I've no idea how these two fall in love since Eduard lives in his own world and doesn't really acknowledge anyone else, but hey!, whatever rocks your boat! Anyway, supposedly, she's only have a month or so to live because, even though she's failed to kill herself, the sleeping pills she took to get the job done have put such a strain on her heart that it's damaged beyond repair...Or so her doctor at the mental hospital tells her. Well, guess what, it's a lie. He's told her that so that, upon regaining her joie de vivre, she'll think every day is a miracle, a gift. I'm not even kidding. So she and Eduard get discharged (or run away, I don't really remember anymore) and that's it - the end.
Did I mention Eduard is filthy rich? Comes in handy, doesn't it?

Daft. Just...Is this supposed to be philosophic? If so, Mr. Coelho, nice try, but better luck next time.
