This is a tough one. I was frustrated because this author was compared to Tolkein so it caught my eye. I would never compare this author to Tolkein, ever. This made me angry actually she's far from Tolkein.

This book was extremely slow. I was compelled to finish the story though. She was way too descriptive without holding my interest. Her use of the English language was a bit bizarre as well and instead of being poetic, it was more unlevel and weird.

I had a hard time connecting to the characters as well.

I do not know if I will continue this series which rarely happens to me. If the reviews of the next books in this series are better, I may look into finding out what happens next. Otherwise there are a few hundred more books I'd rather read.

This author also wrote a different series before this one. I may give this series a try before finishing the Crowthistle series. If I cannot get into the other series and have the same problems as I had with this book, I will stop reading this author.
