really liked it
bookshelves: fiction

This is a very interesting, readable, engrossing book which leaves you wanting more. Lesser's first novel (I guess a big wig in literary circles). I really liked it - it covers three time periods through the 20th century, and focuses on three sets of English-American relationships. All of which I found compelling and real. I did prefer the first time period: I liked the switching writing styles. The second left me wanting more information, but it was lovely. The third reminded me of my college year as an exchange student in the UK, although my year had less drama. The funny old houses and heating and student interactions were very familiar.
