really liked it
Read in October, 2008 , read count: once

Although I would call this more of a "man's" book than I remember Shogun being, I ate it up, and the ending will stay with me for a long time. I can't wait to continue to read the Asian saga!

Reading historical fiction is a fun way to fix history in your mind. Besides learning the obvious political stuff about the debut of Hong Kong on the international scene, I learned a lot of tidbits about daily life in China in the early 19th century, often compared to life in Britain. Of course, I am trusting that Clavell was a thorough and masterful researcher!
