it was amazing

This was my first introduction to the intriguing German murder mystery series which involve a Medical Examiner, Martin and one of his previously,to date, silent clients. Martin is finishing up his autopsy of a person who had suffered a fatal accident, Pascha, when to both their surprise Pascha screams out to stop further indignities to his body.

Pascha it seems has been murdered. He blackmails Martin into trying to solve the case, as the police have ruled it an accident and Pascha knows he was pushed. There are some surprisingly funny episodes as well as some scenes that make you reflect upon life and death.

The mystery blossoms and takes some amazingly complex twists and turns. The ending leaves you hanging with anxiety for Martin. Can Pascha save him?

I have the next book in my To Be Read pile. I think I'll read some cozies in-between, as this book was intense and a page turner. The book also gave us a good insight to today's Germany. It takes place in Cologne, Germany.

Excellently translated by Erik J. Macki
