An interesting read set in the modern era, but incorporating the realms of Faerie and their denizens. Especially intriguing were the depictions of the various courts and their members.

The main character, Merry Gentry, is a mortal faerie princess who has hidden herself away from the realm of Faerie in order to thwart various assassination attempts. Found out and summoned back to the Unseelie court by its queen, Merry walks a delicate line weaving politics, sensuality, and fae custom to keep herself alive, as well as to acquire a cadre of followers. (And let me tell you, most of the men attracted to her little band are scrumptious!)

The encounters between Merry and her lovers were tastefully done, skillfully incorporating the supernatural that has to be present in a world where a taste of a faerie lover can leave a human to waste away for want of another touch, yet still human enough to be the steamy read most readers of this genre crave.

That overall describes the character of Meredith Gentry, alien and strange in her faerie aspect, yet still mortal and filled with enough human emotions to be relatable and intriguing.
