I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Det. Jane Rizzoli is called in to try and draw out 14 year old Teddy Clock, the traumatized lone survivor of the murder of his foster family. Quickly, we discover that two years prior Teddy was the lone survivor of his family’s murder which left him an orphan.

While Dr. Maura Isles is visiting 16 year old Julian at Eversong, a boarding school she meets Claire and Will, two newly arrived students who both are survivors of the loss of both their birth families and foster families.

Three children, with similar tragedies. Coincidence or does someone want them dead?

Last to Die is my first Tess Gerritsen’s novel and most certainly will not be my last. Within a few pages I was pulled into the narrative, and captivated by the characters until its conclusion. This story was an exhilarating thrill ride.
