My only complaint about this book is that I didn't realize it would be so short and so small. I'm curious about where the author is going with the material in the book--some of it references the His Dark Materials trilogy, and some seems completely random. It could be that Pullman is trying, Tolkien-esque, to expand the story's universe (though others would simply say he's trying to make more money off a good series). Since I like world-building, I enjoyed the book, but my expectations were so high from His Dark Materials that I was a bit disappointed by the book's brevity. Oh well, now off to read Once Upon A Time In The North...
