This was my first foray into Russia's master of literature. I have to admit, I was on my way to the beach when I read this and I couldn't wait to start....I read this outloud to my husband as we drove.
A tale leading up to a political nightmare that was much too close to not be effected. The characters were diverse and yet none went untouched by the tragedy of men becoming slaves to their own ideas and fears.
I must admit that this is probably the only tale I've ever read where nearly everyone falls into some pit of dispair but it was incredibly moving and heartwrenching tale that made me come away with an incredible love for my own life and family.
An incredible read and not for the faint of heart! Not because of gore or violence, but for the level of emotional reactions this tale elicits!
On my keeper shelf....may even be buried with it!
