Uglies was the best book in the series, but from then on each subsequent book has been not quite as good as the one before it. Specials was okay, but not brilliant. I didn't like how it seemingly encouraged self harm, and it made me realise that Pretties was similar in that it seemingly encouraged eating disorders. Weird. I'm sure the author didn't mean to encourage those things, he was probably being ironic or something, but it still made me feel uncomfortable to think of impressionable teenagers reading this stuff and thinking it might be a good idea to imitate it. I'm going to go ahead and read Extras anyway, just to see the story though, but yeah. I probably wouldn't recommend any of the books in this series apart from the first one. (Which was really really good.)

Marte Patel I agree. Uglies was really interesting and different, but it's difficult to maintain that over a trilogy. Book 4 is entirely different, by the way.
