I just finished re-reading this, and I love it even more the second time. The first time I was frustrated by all the politics, which can be hard to follow. I'm much more clear on it all now.

This book is a perfect mix of drama, romance, twisty turns, humor, and wonderful characters. Gabaldon is artful in surprising her readers with plot twists- even on the second read, I found myself surprised all over again at things I had forgotten!

I love the further development of Jamie and Claire's relationship in this book- and the ending just breaks my heart, and makes me want to dive into the third installment all over again.

This book is so good, it's like spending time with your very best friends. I'm sure I'll be doing many more re-reads in the future.

The only negative comment- this book, more than any of the others, is a bit over the top with "title" references- in other words, I could probably name at least 10 times amber or bugs stuck in amber come up. I'm all for clever references to the title but this is like beating your head on a stick with it.
