Read from July 22 to August 12, 2012 , read count: 1

I LOVED the beginning and end of this book--not so much the middle. I found that the narrator has no definitive goal and I suppose that sometimes that is true of human life, however the book failed capture me with some of the more mundane things the main character goes through. It is wonderfully written, the characters are well developed and there is both melancholy and humor and mystery all tied together so overall I found it very enjoyable. There are also some great one liners that made me really just stop and think about what they mean, and about life in general I guess (sounds cliché but it did happen--they made the read even better). I was happy to find a Canadian novel that made sense and was enjoyable to me since I have such a narrow taste in books.
