This book was recommended to me by one of our young library members.

Takes place around the late 1950s, I think. A boy longs to see the Seven Wonders of the World in person, so his father challenges him to find seven wonders in his small farming town of Sassafras Springs with the enticement that he will send the boy to visit a faraway relative if successful.

While he is skeptical, the boy sets out to visit neighbors and friends and finds that small things can be wonders, too. Each item he discovers through the people of his town is accompanied by a story to explain what makes the artifact so special.

Very quaint!
