Slightly different from the edition I read, but whatevs.

This one's quite a grab-bag of stuff - four novellas, two sci-fi and two alternate Americana (is that a thing? It should be a thing.) "Roadworks", the story of a man who's pissed at an interstate extension, is easily the weakest. It's Falling Down in a house, but without anywhere near the bite or venom. Eminently meh, and I guess three stars on its own.

"Rage" is the story of a teenager who holds a class hostage. Sort of. Quite an odd one, but nonetheless an interesting little story. Four stars.

"The Running Man." Not as good as the Arnie film, and coming from a different perspective. (The social criticism is significantly sharper here, in particular.) Four stars too.

"The Long Walk" is the high point of the collection. Yet another death game, a hundred boys walk until only one survives. Interesting character-driven story. Ending is a bit weak, but we're talking the last page or so. Five stars.
