What separates this from the Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens books is it is by a former evangelical preacher. Barker acknowledges how great it feels to know to be religious to have the perception of trancendent moments.....and to feel the terror that comes when you realize it's all fear based bullshit.
This book acknowledges the long, long, process it takes to get free of a religion that has tapped into your fears since childhood. Good read...surprising humor. I've seen Barker speak.....great guy, and like I said a different take on getting past religion, because he knows it's not as simple as having rational arguments and thinking clearly; religion has people trapped at a much deeper level than that.
