liked it

2.5 stars. The plot turns kept me reading, but the voice and writing itself didn't quite resonate with me, and the emotional epiphanies and dialogue were a bit too on the nose. I thought he did a great job of characterizing Brigham Young and Joseph Smith, though, and mining the characters who devoted their lives to those men (most notably, Ann Eliza Young's mother).
