If I'd read a bare bones synopsis of this story, I probably would have written it off as a ludicrous sex fantasy and never even have started it. Sort of a "Beauty and the Beast" tale with a very complicated menage, it's definitely way out there, but the lovably flawed humanity of the characters and the genuineness of their emotions made it work for me. I'm giving it a high grade because I'm so impressed with how much the author accomplished in such a short story.

Note that this is erotica, not romance: there is a happy ending (too happy, I thought: (view spoiler)) but not the one romance readers might expect.
