We Sinners

This book was frustrating for me. I wanted to really love it, but I found the time jumps and characters changes to sporadic for me.
There were a lot of characters to keep up with, and each chapter featured a different child. Not only did each chapter have a different point of view, but the timing between chapters was confusing. It often seemed that so much time had passed that I had no idea what was going on.
The first chapter was really great, and I was optimistic after reading that chapter. Chapter two left me confused because it was unclear that there was a time jump. Had the author continued in the vein of chapter one, this would have been a standout book.
I was really looking forward to reading about a family with such deep religious roots, I wanted to dive into that world and see what it was like. While we did seem a lot, the story line was too jumpy to really get a good sense of the religion.
As far as the last chapter...color me confused. I have no idea what was happening there.
Overall, I like the idea of this story, but I really felt that it didn't live up to my expectations.
