First, thanks for the free copy. This book is filled with ecological and philosophical discussions and a large portion of scientific theory."You must understand that the actions we perform in this world may manifest themselves as vastly different phenomena in other levels of existence." This is the basis of the actions of a descendant of the Mayans who has the scientific know how to destroy civilization. The book starts off slowly but builds momentum. It was a good story but the ending was a stretch. The other characters said, "Cooool" and seemed a bit naive and somewhat stereotyped. Still, I had to stop reading several times to think through the ideas the author presented, which I found fascinating. All in all a good read.

Mark Longo You're welcome and thank you for the thoughtful review. You might be interested in the following blog entry which describes some of the underlying symbolism in Vainglorious Sun. I think I could probably write a book about the book if anyone cared.
