The humor is evident--the whole book is a series of speeches, statements and flows of ideas that become more ludicrous as they become more developed. The melodramatic plot reinforces the childishness and naivte of the narrator. Truly excellent representation of the joys and despairs of the young. Not as powerful as the great novels, notably "Demons" and "Karamazov", but in its own way almost as good.
