really liked it
Recommended for: people who like Greek/Roman myths.

I've always really enjoyed Greek/Roman myths, and I read portions of this work in school, which kind of turned me on to it. The stories are great if you're into these kind of stories (tortured love, gods messing with people & enacting revenge, battles, etc.) For anybody who might want to read this I would recommend cozying up with Edith Hamilton's Mythology which has down and dirty renditions of many of these stories. Beyond that there were many people and places I was unfamiliar with, and I wish I hadn't discovered my edition's handy glossary when I was on the last forty pages of the book. Speaking of the edition, I recommend this one. Really good translation and footnotes. All in all a good read. And I have to say when it comes to writing violence, nobody does it better than those ancient Greeks and Romans.
