it was amazing
bookshelves: disturbing, historical-fiction, page-turners, profound
Read in August, 2012 — I own a copy

Have you ever seen a book on a shelf that was not on your reading list but the title just jumped out at you and said, "READ ME NOW!" This is one of those books for me. It's been around a long time and I found it for $1 on a Goodwill Store bookshelf. The read was well worth the dollar and alot more.

I kept asking myself, is this book fiction or non-fiction??? And I kept having to go back to the cover to remind myself that it was fiction, it read so authentically.

I'm not usually a war book reader, but Tim O'Brien's writing and insightful prose was plumbed the depths of the human psyche with shattering artistic articulation. While the subject matter was difficult, the writing was transforming.

Tim O'Brien finds a way to put the unspeakable into words that cannot fail to move the reader. I highly recommend this book.
