Today’s review is for Roses are Red by James Patterson. I do love his books, and I especially love the Alex Cross series of books. The ones I have are audio books that I listen to my car on the way to work which is especially handy. My commute is pretty short, I only get about 40 minutes in the car a day, so when I’m alone, I cue up the book on my iP.od and listen away. It takes me about a week to get through a book this way.

Roses are Red follows the Mastermind storyline of Alex Cross trying to catch the bad guy committing a series of violent bank robberies and murders. It's gripping right from start to finish, and I won't tell you who the bad guy is, but my jaw nearly hit the floor when I found out who it was. Classic who-done-it. If you like a good detective thriller you'll love this book. Just be sure to get a better copy of it than I have, if I didn't know better I'd say my version was dubbed from cassette tape. Super scratchy low quality. And I can't even remember how I got it in the first place, I think I borrowed the CD's from the library. Very poor quality, but I shouldn't really complain since it was free.

Support your local public library folks!

But I digress...

Roses are Red was fast paced with just the right amount of violence and gory details to keep you wanting more. At times it gets a little boring listening to Cross get all depressed and moody about how much time he's spending at work instead of with his family, but if you can get through those parts, the rest of the story is great.

4 out of 5 glasses of wine!
